"Mask" erading in the Movies If you are directing a movie or a play, you need to think about costumes that you will use. In ancient times, the symbol of two masks was used to describe the Greek Theatre - a joyful and the other sad. At that time, the actors had to wear huge masks amplified their voices. The public in ancient Greece regularly observed characters as large as seven feet thanks to their enormous masks and high shoes. After all, the characters had to be both visible and audible to the spectators.
Today, thanks to changes in lighting, video cameras and microphones, the actors were much easier. They can now literally dress for the part they play. We can say that, finally, the costumes are merely disguise the film. To fight against this point of view, we have the old adage "clothes make the man." Clothes can also decide the fate of a movie. You could have a wonderful script with great actors. However, if you can not evade the evil look, success will be somewhat uncertain. It is not surprising that the designers and costume designers are in high demand as in the media world today. If you want an example of how the eyes of actors can affect the success of a film or TV show, Sex and the City is an excellent example.
Consequently, the film makers, Shakespeare in Love, has invested much of their efforts to recreate the Elizabethan costumes by their historic use. The crew of the film actually won the Academy Award for best costumes for their efforts. Otherwise, Titanic, Moulin Rouge and Chicago are examples of relatively recent films that did much research to get the right look.
As for the masks, they are the most visible of superhero films only. However, Spiderman is just one of many to conceal his identity under a mask. Remember how Robin Williams pretended to be a woman in Mrs. Doubtfire? Nobody can forget the mask. More recently, we've seen Gwyneth Paltrow wearing a similar mask in his portrait of an overweight woman in the hit movie, Shallow Hal. If you like fantasy, face the sworn enemy of Harry Potter, Lord Voldemort is unforgettable. Her face is absolutely perfect for the character of "He who does not want to be named."
Movies costumes, masks have become a permanent fixture. And movies like The Man in the Iron Mask, Jim Carrey starrer and The Mask, have done much to add to its popularity.
