Maternity UkFears of maternity career success for women stop

In recent months TheLadders.co.uk we conducted a study to determine what kind is better for job interviews and the results were revealing. We found that women outperform men in an overwhelming majority of interviews, but this does not guarantee career success, such as fear of motherhood may be the ultimate barrier to ensure a top role .

We surveyed 500 UK employers, women and half men and half, and found that 59% believe that women perform better during interviews. They also have a better presentation, communication, motivation skills, understand the societies and cultures better, more thorough, friendly and better able to balance multiple tasks. Unfortunately all these positive attributes can not outweigh the fact that they may leave a company to found a family, as nearly half of senior managers we spoke to said that women will not achieve the highest position because of the fear of their becoming mothers.

Our results also revealed that women off their male counterparts in 11 of the 18 criteria necessary for successful job meetings. The direction that we interviewed also said that the first three considerations in choosing the right candidate is qualified, does the company fit and personality. Women provide the best in the interview of those too, with 59% of employers say they will present their skills more effectively, 63.9% believe that women understand the corporate culture and 72.3 % of women are more friendly and personalized service in an interview situation.

But when we asked why there are not as many women as securing the top positions of 42.7% of respondents said it was because they feared that women leave to have children. 54% agree that there simply are not as many women candidates than men and 51% say that society expects men to leadership positions. Surprisingly 38% believe that there is still inherent sexism in the workplace.

It does not stop there, although more than one quarter of the executives we spoke to believe that men are rewarded for being more engaged than women in their jobs. 45% say women are simply less pronounced when it comes to negotiating higher posts and higher wages and 44.7% believe that the drop in pay and recognition for women is one of the stereotypes of business.

Derek Pilcher, CEO of TheLadders.co.uk agree with many who say that if women were as qualified as men to senior positions, they are not simply the application. "This could be a number of reasons that may also involve the belief that men dominate the senior positions and it scares women to go for an interview. Yet women shine clearly in the interview and as such should be securing top jobs when they apply. What is the reasons the UN is the voice not to employ women, particularly the fear of losing Management of women after they had children. It can also be serious repercussions on the number of women who have done through leadership roles. "
