What is the title of some children in the story of one? ? Looking for a book title that I used to have when I was a kid. I have only vague memories of this book, so maybe someone can help me fill in the blanks. I am very grateful to anyone who can help. I would shower praise on them and give glory to his name, forever. I dance at their wedding. Here are some details of the story - they are not narrative detail, but images of what I have.
Two young children, a boy and a girl who witnessed a strange ship in the city they live in. Later, they leave a cheese sandwich and a glass of milk at night for some ELF / golblin / creatures vaguely weird / persons entering their house and clean for them at night.
The elves / whatever they are (it is difficult to describe from my memories) are grateful for the offerings of the children of cheese sandwich and milk.
Then something (no idea what) causes the house to be messed up during the night. It is implicit that the elves are responsible. The kids think the elves are not satisfied for any reason.
Thus, children dye their green clothes, a football shirt (not American football, I think the story is English but I know not), and tights. They dye their clothes in the tub, leaving a mess for green parents who are angry when they find it.
They leave clothes on green elf / whatever, who dance the night of joy to find this, and it awakens the child.
This is the first time children see elves / whatever, and they are surprised. But the elves disappear very quickly when they find that children have seen.
At the end of the story the children see a sailboat in a bottle, which looks very similar to a ship they saw in the harbor at the beginning of the story.
Do not think about elves especially if you try to remember this history, because they were not elves, they just looked a bit like elves.
There was a sort of green ground in this history, clothing, water from the river and the port has been dyed green at some point.
However, I do not know if it's an Irish story or there was no sort of connection to the Irish story.
The book had illustrations. It was not very long. Colour images were of course.
Please help me, I am desperate. This has been driving me crazy. I need to know what this book is called, because it really touched me when I was a kid and I base my life on his teachings, or what I remembered.
I will fill you with gifts and be forever grateful to the person or persons who can help me. I will be devoted to you forever, so please, please, please, help me.
PS - This is not some kind of joke. Yes, I can seem a bit "bonkos", but this is a legitimate concern.
Thank you, Sincerely,
Sincerely,
Rhah
