Big And Tall Direct

Posted on June 7, 2011.
Big And Tall DirectMy plant never flowered Bougainvillea despite growing big and fat?

do I prune / cut, but I do not know how to do .... DAT and should I add fertilizer as Grow-fast plant to bloom? i water every day once the morning, and is placed in my balcony with lots of sun (but not direct sun ).... thnx:)

I sorta agree with "sugar". Bougainvillea is a tropical plant. Lots of sun is essential sorta, I also recommend allowing it to dry between waterings to. Finally, heat is an important factor.

I used to work for a retail nursery in Michigan, we would get as a tropical plant Bougainvillea porch. They would be in bloom when we have them, but soon there after, the flowers are mostly down. Once warmed in the summer, the flowers would be back. I also had an inside, which bloom in winter, when the heat was.

I also retain the nitrogen to a minimum. Use a fertilizer higher in phosphorus (the middle number on the package). Also use something with an acidifying the soil, iron or other soil amendments such as help too.

I hope this helps
Good luck-

I'm willing to bet that your wine is close to a beautiful green lawn that receives a lot of fertilizer. If the vine gets the same kind of fertilizer in the process, it will continue to grow up happy, and will never be pushed to bloom. You need to keep lawn fertilizer (or any [other high nitrogen fertilizer first issue]) away from flowering plants. They utter madness, but not stress enough to bloom. Instead, feed a fertilizer with a high number of medium to induce flowering. Keep the lawn fertilizer away from plant roots, hopefully within a year or two, your vine will start flowering.

Good luck!

Too much. they like the dry side.

POTTING: They can be grown in large pots filled with compost to two-thirds loam and one third leaf mold, sand and broken bricks, however, they are more beautiful when they are planted in a soil bed son and training related to the roof in the spring or autumn. In spring, a few inches of topsoil are removed and replaced with fresh compost. A minimum winter temperature of 55 degrees is necessary. During the summer, an abundance of water is needed, but in winter the ground may be almost dry. In February, the laterals should be pruned to within two buds of the base.

I think you're too good for your plants. These plants need a bit of abuse. Being a desert plant, they have adapted to this issue.

Bougainvillea need three things to flowering size first - just cut one third of all stems. Second, do not overwater because it is a desert plant. Just let it dry a bit between waterings especially when it is not flowering. Above all, give him plenty of sun. Bougainvillea will not buds, they do not receive Sun
Do not fertilize - only twice a year may be. and when you do fertilize, make sure there is a high potassium fertilizer.

When the size, cut the side shoots leaving three to four buttons. Provide a stream of nitrogen at its entry into growth, followed by a stream of high potassium when buds appear. Keep just moist in winter.
